Langgeng, a 10-year-old mute child, lives in a dilapidated village on the edge of a railway track, struggling to support his seriously ill father. He is cared for by a prostitute named Kartini (35 years old), a friend of Langgeng's mother. Langgeng's mother disappeared mysteriously when he was just a baby. As he grows older, Langgeng becomes aware of his mother's absence and tries to find her using a worn-out photograph he carries with him every day.
